Roxanne Tata is a senior corporate quality director for Blood Systems Inc. (BSI), where she has overall responsibility for the company’s regulatory affairs, quality information technology, audit program, quality integration and quality source programs. Prior to joining BSI, Tata was the vice president and chief quality officer for The Institute for Transfusion Medicine (ITxM) and the chief operating officer for LifeSource Blood Services, an ITxM affiliate. She has also held positions with the American Red Cross. Tata is certified as a quality auditor by the American Society for Quality (ASQ), of which she is also a member. She also holds active memberships with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), for which she serves as an assessor, America’s Blood Centers (ABC), for which she serves as the chair of the Government Legislative Committee, the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), and the Illinois Association of Blood Banks (IABB). She is the former president of the Illinois Coalition of Blood Centers and a former trustee on the board of directors for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and currently serves as a board director for the Community Resource Center. Tata has authored numerous articles and abstracts, and has given many presentations on blood banking, quality initiatives, transfusion-related topics, Six Sigma and management. She earned her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Creighton University and studied for her specialist in blood banking (SBB) certification at Johns Hopkins University.
